So I recently got ahold of the new 1600lm Philips Hue Bulb, with white and colour ambiance and I’m unfortunately really disappointed by it. I put it right beside the older 800 lumen bulb and I could not notice as much a difference as I expected (using the “Concentrate” scene from the Hue App) in brightness. I was expecting it to be twice as bright, but I visibly cannot see a difference with my eyes, which is probably not a good gauge to check, and using a camera it seems brighter, but I would say by only about 10%? It definitely does not look like it’s 1600lm like my other dumb bulbs are advertised.
Anyone have the 1600lm and willing to comment on your experience so far? I’m assuming it’s only a specific colour range that’s actually 1600lm and the others are not that much (if so, what is that range). I usually use my lights at the pure white/daylight colour (around 4800K to 5000K), and the difference between the 800lm and 1600lm definitely does not seem that much. Or maybe I’m looking at this lumen scale from the wrong perspective.
I guess Philips set the price difference between the 800lm and 1600lm by only $10 for a reason, otherwise if it was significantly brighter I assume it would have been much more expensive.
